Different improvements : application, device, recording, plan for teaching
Application :
I teach students in France and I only want them to see the summary when they access your application via the link.
I would like to be able to share only the summary of a conversation (overview) without displaying the full transcript. Ideally, a link that shows only the title and summary.
I would like the ability to merge the recordings if desired. For example, my Omi pendant recorded a lecture session in three parts; I would like these three recordings to be merged in the application to create a single summary. Otherwise, students currently end up with three separate summaries for the same lecture.
Recording :
Since your last update, recording starts when the pendant is lit but red. This isn't ideal because it sometimes records unnecessary information. I would like to have the option, if possible, to "record with the pendant only when it's blue (for example, double-tap to turn blue) or when the phone's Bluetooth is enabled."
Pendent :
How can I recharge the pendant without using any credit after the last update?
In fact, it needs to be lit with the red dot, but I would like without it recording. Since your last update, as soon as the red dot is lit, recording starts and the usage credit decreases, but in this case, I don't want to record, I just want to recharge.
It can be difficult to distinguish red from light red or orange. Couldn't you choose colors that stand out better besides blue and red? For example, green or white.
When I try to recharge it, it shuts off after a few minutes. I tried using it today, but I could only use the app. The pendant is useless to me because it doesn't work properly, it discharges even when not in use, and if I want to use it, it consumes minutes from my plan.
Plan :
The distinction between the unlimited plan and the free plan isn't clear: you say the free plan includes 1200 minutes, but beyond those 1200 minutes, you can still have Omi summarize the audio. So what's the difference?
Thanks
Frédéric

Hello! Glad to help:
Share summary only (no transcript):
Not currently possible — sharing shows full conversation. You can manually copy the summary and share
Merge multiple recordings:
Tap and hold a conversation, you’ll be able to select multiple ones, and will use the MERGE option.
Start recording only when blue (connected):
Current design: red = offline recording (saves to device), blue = connected/live. You can't disable offline recording entirely, but you can avoid it by only pressing the button when already connected (blue). To disable recording, press the device and hold until it shuts off.
Recording only when Bluetooth ON:
Not configurable — pendant records offline if BT is off. This is by design (so you don't lose data if phone dies/disconnects).
Charge without burning minutes:
Red LED while charging does NOT mean recording.
Charging LEDs: alternating green/red or green/blue = charging, solid green = full.
If it's recording while charging, you pressed the button — just don't press it.
Or shut the device off and charge it while off. Won’t record but will charge.
Change LED colors:
Not user-configurable. You can add a feature request for customizable LEDs or clearer color differentiation.
Turns off after few minutes while charging:
Not normal — should stay on while charging. What exact LED behavior do you see? (Photo would help.) Might be defective.
Discharges when not used:
Small battery drain is normal (Bluetooth standby), but should last 10-14hrs. If it drains fast when idle, email help@omi.me (possible defect).
Consumes minutes when not recording:
Shouldn't happen. Check: Profile → Usage — which conversations burned minutes? If minutes are consumed with no conversations, that's a bug (report to help@omi.me)
Free (1200 min) vs Unlimited:
Free: 1,200 cloud transcription minutes/month + unlimited on-device transcription
Unlimited ($16+/mo): No limit on cloud transcription minutes
After 1,200 min, you can still record offline and sync later, but live transcription stops until next month or you upgrade.
How conversations appear in Profile:
Not sure what you mean by "Profile section" — conversations show in the Home tab.
Profile has settings/usage/account info. Clarify?
Conversation timeout (2-minute threshold):
Profile → Developer Mode → Conversation timeout (default 120s). If silence lasts that long, Omi creates a new conversation card. You can set 30s–600s.
1min 30s recording = new conversation?
Yes, if it's separated by silence (timeout duration). If you talk continuously for 1:30, it's one conversation. If you pause for 2+ min (default timeout), next audio starts a new one.
Ignored conversations:
Conversations discarded by backend (usually too short, unclear audio, or mostly silence). Check Conversations → filter/sort for "Discarded" — those are ignored.
What gets ignored:
Very short (< few seconds), low-quality audio, or mostly silence. The exact logic isn't public, but it's to filter noise/accidental recordings.
Feel free to drop more questions, we’re here for you.

Hello, Could you explain how the conversation display in Profile works? Could you give an example of applying a duration threshold, for example, 2 minutes, to a short conversation?
If a previous recording was only 1 minute 30 seconds long, is a new entry created in the application (and therefore multiple conversations that cannot be merged)?
What does "ignored conversations" mean? What types of conversations are ignored?
Thank you

How conversation segmentation works:
Conversation timeout (not duration): Go to Profile → Developer Mode → "Conversation timeout" (default 120 seconds).
This sets how long of silence triggers a new conversation. Example with 2-min timeout:
You talk → 30s silence → talk again = same conversation
You talk → 2+ min silence → talk again = new conversation
For a 1min 30s recording: If it's continuous talking with no 2-min silence gap, it's one conversation. But if you pause recording and restart later, it depends on the time gap between recordings.
"Ignored" / "Discarded" conversations: Conversations filtered out by the backend:
Too short (few seconds)
Poor audio quality / mostly silence
Accidental recordings
You can see them: Conversations tab → filter/sort → look for "Discarded"
Note: Conversations appear in the Conversations tab, not Profile. Profile is for settings/usage/account info. Does that clear it up?
