Omi Won’t Work Properly
Initially, I had a Deepgram bring your own key set up in the Omi app and it worked for a little while. When my Omi wearable device arrived, I connected it and it seemed to work sometimes. Transcription would work sometimes and not others. Right now it seems to work when using cellular data but not with Wi-Fi on any network and enabling a VPN doesn’t change this either. In hopes that it may work better if I subscribed, I signed up to Omi Monthly Unlimited. Unfortunately, this did not make any noticeable difference. The problem persists with the Omi transcription selected, and with the Omi Parakeet transcription selected. Some functions of the device and app seem to have become more consistent after I went in and deleted my personal Deepgram key even though the app was not set to use Deepgram with a personal key any longer. I’m not sure if the Omi device or the Omi app is the problem, but I have spent most of my free time trying to make this thing work over the last week. Is there some way I can wipe reset all of the settings of the app so my Omi Unlimited Subscription with prior recordings and transcriptions retained?

Thanks for bearing with this. #22197 has now merged, and iOS and Android internal builds containing the Wi‑Fi and transcription-settings fixes succeeded. We’re still verifying the public store version and rollout, so please don’t reinstall, clear app data, or reset the device yet; unsynced recordings could be lost. Once we confirm the exact public version, we’ll ask you to update and test one short wearable recording on Wi‑Fi and one on cellular, then check Offline Sync. We’ll keep this post open until that is verified.

Thanks for bearing with this. Earlier Wi-Fi detection improvements (#21299) shipped in iOS 1.0.563. Additional connection and Deepgram-settings fixes are in #22197, awaiting merge and app release; no backend deployment is needed.
After release, please update, save Omi as your transcription source, test short wearable recordings on Wi-Fi and cellular, and check Offline Sync. If failures continue, share your app/iOS/firmware versions and a failed recording time privately. Please keep Omi installed and its data intact.

@MrOmi2 I’m sorry this has taken so much of your time. We’re tracking the Wi‑Fi versus cellular transcription failure now. Please don’t reinstall or clear app data yet unsynced recordings could be lost. There isn’t a safe “reset everything but keep all recordings” step I can recommend before checking that data. Could you email help@omi.me from your Omi account with your app, iOS and CV1 firmware versions; one failed Wi‑Fi time and one successful cellular time; and whether Offline Sync shows pending recordings? We’ll use those details to investigate before advising a reset.
