I’m on Android (Google Pixel Fold 10). When I switch transcription from Omi (cloud) to on‑device, the live transcript starts looping generic YouTube‑style lines like: “See you next time! Thank you for watching!” It does this continuously, even when the room is silent and the fan is off. When I switch back to Omi (cloud) and restart both the app and device, the looping stops completely. Seems tied specifically to enabling on‑device transcription.

This is a known issue with on-device transcription hallucinating on silence — the model picks up tiny noise (or no noise) and generates generic phrases it was trained on (YouTube, common speech patterns).

      Why it happens:

      • On-device Whisper can "hallucinate" when given silence/very low audio

      • Charger electrical noise might be feeding the mic just enough to trigger it

      • Cloud transcription has better filtering/VAD (voice activity detection)

Fix: Just stick with Omi (cloud) transcription for now — it's more reliable and has proper silence filtering.

On-device is experimental and has this bug.

      If you need on-device: Try:

      1. Unplug from charger (test if electrical noise is the trigger)

      2. Check mic permissions for Omi app (maybe picking up system audio?)

      3. Report this with app version (Settings → About) so devs can fix the hallucination filter

What app version are you on?
